Len Morgan established the Kelmscott operations of Nagrom in 1972. Len had a long association with the mineral sands industry and he established this small equipment manufacturing and metallurgical test facility to service the needs of the growing mineral industry in Western Australia.
Rick Murphy purchased the Nagrom business from Len Morgan in 1978 and expanded the operations into a variety of fields including alluvial tin, tantalite, tungsten and gold recovery, custom drying, CIP carbon cleaning and established Nagrom's initial contracting to the Wodgina tantalite mine. Rick has been involved in the mining industry through assaying and processing since 1968.
Tony Wilkinson, with Nagrom since January 2000, has gained extensive managerial and testwork experience in the mining industry since 1968. In the period 1983 to 2000 Tony had a significant involvement in analytical laboratory innovation, both in Australia and overseas, with Australian Assay Laboratories Group and Assaycorp.
Dr Glen O’Malley joined Nagrom, as Senior Metallurgist, in May 2008.
Glen completed a Murdoch University BSc Hons. (Biotechnology) in 1997 and then undertook further studies in Extractive Metallurgy in conjunction with CSIRO to complete a PhD in 2003. Since 2003 Glen has gained considerable technical and managerial expertise in practical metallurgy at WMC, ANSTO, CBH Endeavour Mine and Marvel Loch.
Glen’s wealth of industry knowledge will help shape the Nagrom experience.
Dr Shane Wilson joined Nagrom, as Senior Chemist, in January 2009.
Shane studied in New Zealand at Massey University and completed a BSc Hons. First Class (Chemistry) in 1986 and undertook further studies culminating with a PhD (Analytical Chemistry) in 1991. In the period 1992 to 1998 Shane was involved in research and teaching positions at universities in Canada and Murdoch in WA where he completed a Graduate Diploma of Science (Extractive Metallurgy). Since then Shane’s commercial laboratory experience has encompassed positions with BHP in Newman & Port Hedland and Barrick Gold in Kalgoorlie.
Shane will be instrumental in the task of adding a quality analytical service to the Nagrom experience.
Stuart Hall is the newest addition to Nagrom’s experienced team of professionals. Stuart is a qualified geologist (Bcs Hons, FAusIMM, FGS) with 40 years experience of exploration and mining projects in Australia, SE Asia and Africa. He has extensive experience in the areas of exploration strategy, mine geology, open pit and underground mining operations, resource/reserve estimations, reconciliation, feasibility studies, mine project development and mine management. His experience has covered a wide range of commodities including base metals, gold, iron ore, tantalum and industrial minerals. Stuart currently provides geological consultancy for Nagrom.
